Rites Held This Afternoon For Mrs. Nettie Wherley

Mrs. Nettie Elizabeth Wherley of Canton, formerly of Astoria died Monday in the Graham hospital following a two-years illness.

Born in Pleasant township, April 29, 1893, a daughter of the Rev. Charles and Lydia (Phillips) Walters, she was married in 1909 to Earl Wherley, who survives.

Other survivors are five children: Mrs. Evelyn Reid, Canton, Wayne Wherley, Browning, Willis Wherley, Peoria, Mrs. Melba Huff, Smithfield, and Mrs. Merlena Brooks, Canton, eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter; three brothers, Ernest and Floyd Walters, Canton, and William Walters, Lamarque, Texas, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Warner, of Ipava. Three children and two brothers preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Woodland Church of the Brethren.

Final rites were conducted at 2:00 o’clock this afternoon by the Rev. Eugene Casper in the Woodland Church of the Brethren near Astoria. Burial in Woodland cemetery.
