Edward TolleEdward L. “Ed” Tolle, 61, of Rushville died at 1:48 p.m. Oct. 15, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Aug. 30, 1949, in Rushville, a son of J.R. and Marjorie Fuqua Tolle. He married Barb Clayton on April 19, 1975, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are one brother, Bill (and Lydia) of Rushville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Rita Clayton of Camden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carolyn (and Jim) Chaney of Mount Sterling, Jerry (and Becky) Clayton of Opelika, Ala., Paul (and Maria) Clayton of Beardstown and Dewaine (and Lori) Clayton of Holmen, Wis.; four aunts, Mary Downs, Joanne Grate and Jeanne (and Jerry) Thurman, all of Rushville, and Beatrice Artis of Camden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Eldon Beghtol.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from December 1968 to December 1972, serving one year in Vietnam.

He graduated from Rushville High School in 1967 and attended Bailey Technical School in St. Louis.

He first worked for NTN Bower in Macomb before working for Bohn Aluminum in Beardstown. He was currently working for City of Rushville, working in the street and maintenance departments, where he started full time in May 1983.

He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville and a former member of Schuyler American Legion Post #4.

Services were held Tuesday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Jeremy Norton officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery south of Rushville with military rites conducted by the U.S. Air Force and Schuyler American Legion Post #4. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
