William "Bill" TolleWilliam L. “Bill” Tolle, 68, of Rushville died at 11:57 a.m. Aug. 22, 2016, at his home.

He was born June 10, 1948, in Rushville, a son of J.R. and Marjorie Fuqua Tolle. He married Lydia Spates on May 1, 2004, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Lonnie Tolle of Webster City, Iowa, and Chris (and Linda) Tolle of McHenry; one niece, Michelle (and Matt) Pate; two nephews, Beau (and Rachelle) Fretueg and Gregory (and Whitney) Fretueg; one aunt, Joanne Grate of Rushville; great nephews and niece; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Eldon Beghtol; and brother, Edward Tolle.

A 1966 graduate of Rushville High School, he earned his bachelors degree in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1970. He worked as a chemical engineer with G.D. Searle and later Kraft Foods. He retired in 2002 as vice president of Iowa Beef Processing.

He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville and the Rushville Masonic Lodge #9 A.F. and A.M. He served on the board of Culbertson Memorial Hospital and the Culbertson Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with David Haney officiating. Burial will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
