Eldon BeghtolEldon D. Beghtol, 83, of Rushville died at 12:10 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009, at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

He was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Rushville Township, Schuyler County, a son of Lawrence and Bernice Marie Phillips Beghtol. He married A. (Fuqua) Tolle on Jan. 5, 1973, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2008.

He also was preceded in death by one sister, Imogene Billingsly.

Surviving are two stepsons, Bill (and Lydia) Tolle and Ed (and Barb) Tolle, both of Rushville; one brother, Gaylord Beghtol of Rushville; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He worked in the maintenance department at Bartlow Brothers in Rushville before working at McDougall Plumbing and Heating. In 1983, he and his wife purchased the business and changed the name to Beck’s Electric and operated it until 1999.

He was a member of Rushville Masonic Lodge AF & AM #9, 32 Degree Mason with the Valley of Quincy Consistory, 22 Club, Ansar Shrine, Schuyler County Shrine, a charter member of Rushville Lions Club, he served in all offices and was a Melvin Jones Fellow and Rushville Moose Lodge #506. From 1979 to 1991, he served as Ward 2 alderman for the City of Rushville.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Jeremy Norton officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Masonic rites by Rushville Masonic Lodge AF & AM #9 at 8 p.m.
