Rita ClaytonRita Marie Clayton, 79, of Camden died at 11:02 a.m. Aug. 26, 2013, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

She was born Aug. 13, 1934, in Beardstown, a daughter of George and Margaret Lehne Kassing. She married R. Eugene Clayton on Jan. 15, 1951, in Mount Sterling. He survives.

Also surviving are her children: Carolyn (and Jim) Chaney of Mount Sterling, Barb (and Ed) Tolle of Rushville, Jerry (and Becky) Clayton of Ann Arbor, Mich., Paul (and Maria) Clayton of Beardstown, Dewaine (and Lori) Clayton of Onalaska, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

She was a member of St. Mary's Academy graduating class of 1952; St. Rose Catholic Church of Rushville and St. Rose Altar and Rosary Society for many years.

She worked in food service as a cook and waitress throughout her life. She and her husband owned and operated Camden Café for several years.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday at St. Rose Catholic Church with Monsignor Brian Rejsek officiating. Burial was in Gray Cemetery in Camden Township. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
