Howard TroneHoward A. Trone, 83, of Rushville died at 8:20 p.m. Oct. 23, 2007, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born May 29, 1924, in rural Browning, a son of Carl A. Sr. and Bertha A. Kinnear Trone. He married Shirley June Dugan on Aug. 20, 1950, in Beardstown. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Ted (and Nancy) Trone, Tim (and Gail) Trone, Chris (and Lynn) Trone, all of Rushville and Doug (and Sue) Trone of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Crystal James of Rushville and Susan (and Kevin) Lux of Beardstown; one brother, Glen (and Vivian) Trone of Walnut; three sisters, Madelyn Dunlap of Macomb, Marcella (and David) Taylor of Rushville and Jean Sieber of Mount Carroll; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil Trone, Carl Trone Jr. and Donald Trone; four sisters, Nancy Trone, Mary Stambaugh, Clarice Dickerson and Lois Jones.

He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Browning Christian Church and attended Rushville Free Methodist Church. He also was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post #4, Voiture #1100 40 et 8, a life member of Rushville Moose Lodge #506 and laborers union out of Jacksonville.

In his early years, he was a truck driver and mechanic, last working as a grade supervisor for Freesen Brothers Inc. for 27 years, retiring in 1985. Since his retirement, he volunteered his services in numerous community projects.

Services were held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Kirkham officiating.
