Jean Eleanor Sieber, 79, of Mount Carroll died Aug. 24, 2009, at FHN in Freeport.

She was born May 23, 1930, in Browning Township, a daughter of Carl A. and Bertha “Addie” Kinnear Trone. She married Richard E. Sack on Oct. 11, 1952, in Rushville. He died May 3, 1969. She later married Bernard “Bernie” Sieber on May 10, 1976, in Mount Carroll. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1983.

She also was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kristen; four sisters, Nancy Trone, Mary Stambaugh, Clarice Dickerson and Lois Jones; and four brothers, Virgil, Carl Jr., Donald and Howard Trone.

Surviving are her children, Beth Surrarrer of Freeport and Laurie (and Jim) Foltz and Mark R. Sack, both of Mount Carroll; two sisters, Madelyn Dunlap and Marcella (and David) Taylor, both of Macomb; one brother, Glen (and Vivian) Trone of Walnut; her caregiver, Patty Derrickson; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She attended the country school near her home and attended church at Ridgeville Community Church. She graduated from Rushville High School where she lived with a family so she could attend high school. She went to Western Illinois University.

She had worked at Mirror-Democrat, Savanna Army Depot, Mount Carroll Insurance Agency, G & E Cleaners and Sieber’s Jewelry Store, until she retired due to her health.

She was a member of United Methodist Church, UMW and her church circle; chamber of commerce and past president and secretary; life member of Green Hills Girl Scout Council; and area PEO.

She helped organize the Sink or Swim store to earn money to build Mount Carroll Swimming Pool. She taught Sunday school at Lutheran Church for many years.

Services were Aug. 29 at United Methodist Church in Mount Carroll with Rev. Mark Harkness officiating. Burial was in Oakhill Cemetery in Mount Carroll.
