David TaylorDavid Leon Taylor, 93, of Granby, Colo., formerly of Rushville, died at 10:30 p.m. May 7, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, Colo.

He was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Bainbridge Township, in Schuyler County, a son of Herschel and Iva Taylor. He married Marcella Trone Sowers on Nov. 22, 1958, in Manito. She preceded him in death.

He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny and Myron Taylor.

Surviving are four daughters, Marsha (and Warren) Korkala of Duluth, Minn., Mary Ann (and John) Cassel of Frisco, Texas, Lynne Gaunt and Jill Anderson, both of Granby, Colo.; one son, Kevin (and Christy) Taylor of La Salle; one sister, Jeanette Downs of Rushville; 15 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

He was a 1948 graduate of Rushville High School. He worked in building design and construction for 56 years and founded his own company, Taylor Building Systems.

He was baptized into the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He was very active in the church serving on various committees and as an elder. He and Marcella hosted a long-standing bible study group in their home and later volunteered on several building construction projects with Laborers for Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Ian Heinz officiating. Burial will follow at Palm Cemetery in Rushville. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.
