Marshall Tippey

Marshall E. Tippey, 89, of Lewistown died at 6:24 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.

He was born Nov. 25, 1913, in Kerton Township, a son of John "Loy" and Gertrude W. Thomas Tippey. He married Dorothy Arnett on June 26, 1937, at Oquawka. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Norman of Havana; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one brother, Herbert (and Doris) Tippey of Lewistown.

He worked as a superintendent at the Havana Coal Transfer Plant for 30 years before retiring in 1978. He was a former Spoon River Electric Cooperative board member and a former Isabel Township trustee. He was an active participant in various community projects during his life.

Services were held Monday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.
