Dorothy TippeyDorothy Tippey, 97, of Lewistown died at 2:55 p.m. Dec. 8, 2010, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.

She was born April 10, 1913, in Pleasant Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Wilbur C. and Jessie Virginia Rice Arnett. She married Marshall E. Tippey on June 26, 1937, in Oquakwa. He died Dec. 20, 2002.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Mariam Proctor and Helen Marshall.

Surviving are one son, Norman (and Karen) Tippey of Havana; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was a lifetime member of Fulton County Historical and Genealogical Society, Fulton County Bicentennial Commission, a 14-year member of Spoon River Valley Scenic Drive, representing the Duncan Mills area. She was a driving force in the development of the area that became Helms Park in Duncan Mills. She also served as school director, township auditor and 4-H leader.

Private family graveside services were held Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Reverend Danie deBeer officiating. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.
