HIRAM P. THOMPSON

Hiram Thompson

Hiram P. Thompson, 94, of Astoria died at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Havana Healthcare Center in Havana.

He was born Sept. 3, 1906, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a son of William and Ilma Mayall Thompson. He married Clela Mae Groff on June 3, 1925. She died Sept. 14, 1951. He later married Carrie Mae Detrick on Aug. 1, 1958, in Astoria. She died Nov. 9, 1993.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Franklin; one brother, William Elzie Thompson; two grandsons; and two stepgrandsons.

Surviving are one daughter, Bonnie (and Artie) Shaw of Davenport, Iowa; one son, Wendell of Havana; one stepson, Robert (and Marilyn) Detrick of Easton; one stepdaughter, Virginia (and Don) Crase of Manito; three sisters, Ila Bricker of Lewistown, Florence Miller of Pekin and Marjorie (and Willis) Beekman of Ipava; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

A member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau, he was a farmer. He also served as Woodland Township supervisor for 12 years.

He served on the Summum Cemetery Board for more than 50 years.

Services were held Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery.
