MARJORIE L. (THOMPSON) BEEKMAN

Marjorie BeekmanMarjorie L. Beekman, 89, of Ipava died at 9:28 a.m. Oct. 19, 2013, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.

She was born April 9, 1924, in Summum, a daughter of William Harvey and Ilma Dell Mayall Thompson. She married Willis Fay Beekman on Jan. 29, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2002.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Elzie and Hiram Thompson; and two sisters, Ila Bricker and Florence Miller.

Surviving are four sons, Wayne (and Beverly) Beekman of Astoria, Gale (and Annie) Beekman and Steve (and Kathy) Beekman, both of Ipava, and Donald (and Debra) Beekman of Emden; three daughters, Karen (and Scott) Tippey of Lewistown, Susan (and Jeff) Duel of Havana and Mary Jane (and Joe) Edwards of Dwight; 24 grandchildren; and 52 great-grandchildren.

She worked on the farm.

She was a member of Summum Christian Church and Astoria American Legion Auxiliary Post #25.

Services will be held at noon Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Warren Hughes officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the memorial home. Burial will be in Summum Cemetery.
