Willis Beekman

Willis Fay Beekman, 83, of Ipava died at 7 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at Havana Health Care Center in Havana.

He was born April 23, 1919, in Kerton Township, Fulton County, a son of John Lute and Laura L. O'Donnell Beekman. He married Marjorie Louise Thompson on Jan. 29, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Wayne (and Beverly) of Astoria, Gale, and Steve (and Rhonda), both of Havana, and Don (and Debra) of Emden; three daughters, Karen (and Scott) Tippey of Lewistown, and Susan Vance, and Mary Jane (and Ron) Layton, all of Havana; one sister, Geneva Lockard of Havana; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He had been a farmer and also worked for Peabody Coal Company in Summum and Rushville.

He also was a member of Local 231 in Pekin and worked construction, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Havana Church of Christ in Havana.

Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Warren Hughes officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery.
