Donny G. Crase, 74, of Manito died at 4:40 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, at Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

He was born Sept. 21, 1930, in Kings Creek, Ky., a son of Ira and Lovel Fields Crase. He married Virginia Detrick on June 2, 1961, in Summum. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Donny Jr. of Tennessee; one daughter, Gena (and Brian) Miller of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Doyle (and Nancy) of Sarasota, Fla., and Darrell (and Dixie) of Memphis, Tenn.; five sisters, Lorine Fields, Gladys Fields and Ima Ingram, all of Whitesburg, Ky., Rudell (and Don) Scott of Louisville, Ky., and Frances (and Gene) Copley of Pensacola Beach, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

An Army Air Force veteran, he served as a staff sergeant with the 1876th Command Squadron for 20 years. He was a member of the Pekin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

He worked as custodian at Pekin Community High School for 15 years.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Al Sample officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery, where military rites were accorded by Astoria American Legion Post 25.

Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospice or the Illinois Veterans Home, both in Quincy.
