Ruby Scrogum

Ruby M. Scrogum, 91, of Astoria died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born March 9, 1912, in Schuyler County, a daughter of Joseph D. and Bertha Wardell Davis. She married Paul B. Scrogum on Nov. 22, 1930, in Vermont. He died April 19, 1982.

She also was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Vickie Foster; one great-granddaughter, Amber Foster; five brothers, Orville, Cecil, Whitney, Wayne and an infant; and four sisters, Gladys, Beatrice, Josephine and and infant.

Surviving are two sons, Benjamin of Lewistown and James (and Sandy) of Dumfries, Va.; two daughters, Phyllis (and Walter) Wolfe of Canton and Carol Ann (and Herbert) Shaw of Astoria; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geneva Brewer of Havana and Margaret Danner of Astoria; and one brother, Harold "Punk" Davis of Springfield.

She was the owner/operator of Summum Trading Post in Summum for eight years.
She was a member of Astoria United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 p.m. and one hour before services, both at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the memorial home with Rev. Ken Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Summum Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Summum Christian Church.
