Herbert I. Shaw, 74, of Astoria, died at 2:33 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.
He was born Oct. 11, 1929, in Astoria, a son of John W. and Maude Wickwire Shaw. He married Marian Groff on March 7, 1947, in Farmington. She died April 2, 1963. He then married Carol Ann Scrogum on Sept. 3, 1965, in Summum. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Doug (and Cheryl), Craig (and Melodie) and Chris (and Melissa), all of Astoria; two daughters, Patricia (and Larry) Thomas of Astoria and Jennifer Shaw of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Hilton of Smithfield, Rose Ellen (and Jack) Cluney of Bradley and Lila Atwater of Washington; and one brother, Larry (and Sally) of Canton.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Willard.
He was an Army National Guard veteran.
He was a welder at International Harvester in Canton for 38 years, and owned and operated Shaw's Welding in Astoria.
He was a member of Summum Christian Church, where he served as elder and deacon.
Services were held Tuesday at his church with Rev. Steve Castenada and Ken Peterson officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.
