Frances E. Hilton, 95, of Smithfield died at 9:22 p.m. Sept. 1, 2019, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
She was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Astoria, a daughter of John and Maude Irene Wickwire Shaw. She married Harold “Rusty” Hilton on July 21, 1941, in Hannibal, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1991.
She also was preceded in death by one infant son, Darrell Hilton; one son, Danny Hilton; four brothers, Herbert, Larry, Jim and Willard Shaw; and two sisters, Rose Ellen Cluney and Lila Atwater.
Surviving are one son, Dennis Hilton of Marietta; one daughter, Kathy (and Joseph) Ford of Cuba; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker.
She attended Ipava High School. She was a member of Modern Woodmen of America and director of the Modern Woodmen of America Club 1460 of Smithfield for 50 years. She volunteered at the Red Brick School in Smithfield for chicken noodle dinners and served on the Board at the Cuba Senior Center for several years.
Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ipava Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria.
