NELLIE RACHEL (MILLER) SNOWDEN

Nellie Snowden

Nellie Rachel Snowden, 98, of Vermont, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 1998, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.

She was born Oct. 28, 1899, in rural Vermont, a daughter of David and Anna Horwedel Miller. She married Otis G. Snowden on Feb. 24, 1917, in Macomb. He died Jan. 29, 1970. She also was preceded in death by six sons, Dale, who died while serving in World War II, Edmond, Don, Lt. Col. Wendel, Maj. Dave and Dwight; three grandchildren; four brothers; and one sister.

Surviving are three sons, Eldon “Ben” of Macomb, Norman Devere of Table Grove and Larry of Farmington; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She was a housekeeper all her life with her interest being her children, their families and her grandchildren. She was a member of Vermont American Legion Gold Star Mothers.

Services were held this morning at the Vermont United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Sawyer officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.
