N. Devere Snowden, 70, of Table Grove, died at 10:58 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
He was born Oct. 17, 1928, in McDonough County, a son of Otis and Nellie Miller Snowden. He married Alice May Reed on Sept. 23, 1951, in Macomb. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Kerry (Rebecca) Nielsen of Table Grove; two sons, Daniel of Iola, Iowa, and David of LaHarpe; two brothers, Eldon “Ben” of Macomb and Larry of Farmington; and six grandchildren.
Six brothers preceded him in death.
He worked at Thomas I.H. Store in Table Grove from 1950 to 1958. He was manager of Table Grove Savings & Loan from 1958 to 1976. He then owned Snowden Insurance Co. from 1976 to 1992. He served as village clerk of Table Grove for many years. He was a volunteer fireman for the Table Grove Fire Department.
He was a member and trustee of Table Grove Community Church, where services were held Tuesday with Rev. Tim Ashley officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery in Table Grove. Kost Memorial Home in Vermont was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to his church or to Table Grove Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
