Andrew J. Scrogum Of Summum Dies

Andrew J. Scrogum, 84, Summum, died early Thursday at Graham Hospital in Canton.

Born March 2, 1885, near Astoria, he was the son of Joseph and Columbia Jane Hawkins Scrogum. He was married to Ina Carter in February of 1907. She died in 1951. In 1952 he married Effie Malott, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Keith Scrogum of Canton; four daughters, Mrs. Irma Mallery of Hanna City, Mrs. Ada Long of Lawndale, Calif., Mrs. Ruth Sterling of Havana and Mrs. Wilma Weaver of Bloomington; one step-daughter, Mrs. Raymond Shawgo of Summum; three step-sons, Ralph Malott of Vermont, Lawrence Malott of Table Grove and Oliver Malott of Macomb; eight grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 38 step-great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great, great-grandchildren.

Mr. Scrogum was a lifetime resident of the Summum and Astoria area. He was a member of the Followers of Jesus.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial was in the Summum Cemetery.
