Max RieblingMax Eugene Riebling, 89, of Holiday Island, Ark., died May 22, 2011, in Eureka Springs, Ark.

He was born Aug. 27, 1921, in Vermont, a son of Carl E. and Lilly Ione Stambaugh Riebling. He married Betty June Bollinger on Dec. 22, 1945. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Nancy Zindars of Marietta, Ga., and Cindy Benefield of Springfield, Mo.; one brother, Lyle Riebling; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, Dayle, and Byron (Hank); and one sister, Lucille.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He was a member of Holiday Island Presbyterian Church, the Elks Lodge, American Legion, VFW, Lions Club and Old Coots Golf Team.

Services were held Saturday at Holiday Island Presbyterian Church in Holiday Island, Ark. Cremation was accorded. Nelson Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
