Edwin Rimington

Edwin Rimington, 92, of Ipava, a former Ipava mayor, died at 5:52 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.

He was born Nov. 26, 1912, in Peoria, a son of John and Emily Tufts Rimington. He married Goldie Rudisill on Sept. 2, 1938, in Ipava. She died April 7, 1973. He later married Iva Deloris Philbrick on July 24, 1982, in Burlington, Iowa. She died Oct. 5, 2000, in Burlington.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Paul; one brother, Fred; and four sisters, Elaine Bulmer, Emma Johnson, Annice Rimington and Dorothy Ransom.

Surviving are one daughter, Margo Rimington of Montgomery, Ala.; one son, David (and Cindy) of Prophetstown; two stepsons, Carl (and Martha) Scott of Rock Falls and Larry Scott of Middlesex, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Mary Crooks of Burlington and Judith (and Richard) Randklev of Minot, N.D.; two grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (and Dorothy) of Freeport; and one sister, Mary Northcutt of Peoria.

He was a lifelong farmer in the Ipava and Adair areas, retiring in 1975. He also served as mayor of Ipava for four years. He was a member of Fulton County Farm Bureau.

He was a member of Ipava United Presbyterian Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at his church with Rev. Bill Bodamer officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in rural Astoria.
