Frederick Rimington, 77, of Lena, formerly of Ipava, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Freeport Memorial Hospital in Freeport.

He was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Lewistown, a son of John and Emily Tufts Rimington. He married Virginia Wilson on Jan. 20, 1951, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Randall (and Kate) of Orangeville, Kent (and Linda) of Freeport, Ronald (and Diane) of Lena and Jeffrey (and Alice) of Cottage Grove, Wis.; one daughter, Kathryn Rimington of Oceanside, Calif.; four granddaughters; one stepgrandson; two brothers, Edwin of Ipava and Robert (and Dorothy) of Freeport; and two sisters, Annice Rimington and Mary North Utt, both of Peoria.

He was preceded in death by three sisters.

He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in England.

He attended Blackburn Junior College in Carlinville.

He was a dairy farmer in the Lena area for 39 years and also had farmed in Ipava.

He was a member of the Sprague Inman American Legion Post in Lena.

He was an Erwin Township trustee.

Services were held today at 11 a.m. at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena. Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeport.
