John Rimington, 85, Ipava, Dies

John Rimington, 85, of Ipava, Fulton County supervisor from Pleasant Township for the past 14 years, died Wednesday morning, Aug. 4, at his home following an illness of one year.

Funeral services were held Friday at 1 p.m. at the St. James Episcopal Church in Lewistown. The Rev. Lewis Payne officiated and burial was in Ipava Cemetery. Masonic services were held at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava at 8 p.m. Thursday.

He was born Aug. 9, 1879, at Stavely, Derbyshire, England, the son of John and Jane Ellen Smith Rimington. He was married Sept. 21, 1903 to Emily Tuffs. Mr. Rimington has resided in Fulton County for the past 51 years. He was a member of the Ipava Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are the widow; five daughters, Mrs. Emma Johnson, Miss Annice Rimington and Mrs. Mary Northcutt, all of Peoria, Mrs. Elaine Bulmer of Ipava and Mrs. Dorothy Ransom of Warren, Mich.; three sons, Edwin of Ipava, Robert of Freeport, and Fred of Lena; two sisters, Mrs. Polly Bunt of Stavely, England, and Mrs. Druscilla Johnson of Peoria; one brother, Tom of Arkwright, England. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Four brothers and one sister died previously.
