Viola QuesinberryViola Quesinberry, 91, of Rushville, formerly of Astoria, died at 9:45 a.m. Sept. 2, 2019, at Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Aug. 19, 1928, in Beardstown, a daughter of David and Alma Anderson. She married Samuel Cassel in 1946. She later married Tommy Curless on April 25, 1966, in Lewistown. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1981. She then married James Quesinberry on May 27, 1982, in Astoria. He preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 2016.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Alfred, David, Franklin and Arthur Anderson; and four sisters, Vivian, Dorothy, Virginia and Mildred.

Surviving are one daughter, Darlene (and Gary) Baker of Rushville; one sister, Irene Curless of Rushville; one grandson, Bobby (and Angela) Blickenstaff of Astoria; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She held her first job at age 16 at the Glove Factory in Beardstown. She later worked at several businesses in Astoria; The Subway (Broadway) Café and Wilbur’s Coffee Cup, where she loved being a waitress. She later worked as bookkeeper for Alexander Lumber Company and was a cashier at Hamblin’s Gas and Snaks.

One of her accomplishments was when in her 60s she received her GED with some local friends. She and her sister Irene played the guitar and sang at local churches and PTA meetings in the area.

She was a member of Astoria Christian Church where she always reminisced and shared the story of Pastor Ray Artrip baptizing her and later Tommy.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Astoria Cemetery with Bob Spencer officiating. There will be no visitation. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
