VeteranThomas E. Curless Dies In Hospital

Thomas E. Curless, 63, of Astoria, died at 7:25 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 1981, in Beardstown Hospital.

He was born June 23, 1917, in Astoria, a son of Harley and Josie (Horton) Curless. He married Viola Anderson April 25, 1966, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Thomas Michael of Marquette Heights and Phillip of Cuba; one step-daughter, Mrs. Darlene Baker of Browning; one grandchild; three step-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Susan Heflin and one brother, Joe, both of Astoria.

One brother preceded him in death.

Mr. Curless was a retired employee of the Astoria Fibra-Steel Co., where he had been a supervisor, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Astoria Christian Church and of the Astoria American Legion.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Shawgo Memorial Home at Astoria with Ray Artrip officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery, where military rites were conducted at the grave by the Astoria American Legion.
