Bertha M. Malott, 90, of Spoon River Towers in Lewistown, a former Vermont resident, died at 6:28 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 1996, at the Snyder-Vaughn Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.
She was born on Sept. 19, 1906, in Isabel Township, Fulton County, a daughter of John H. and Anna E. Tharp Hendee. She married Hiram R. Malott in Havana on Dec. 11, 1922.* He died March 1, 1989. She was also preceded in death by two infant sons and one sister.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. William (Ruby) Gobel of Mesa, Ariz., Mrs. George (Margie) Wilson of Vermont and Mrs. Doris Welch-Case of Peoria; three sons, Harold E. Malott of Astoria, Clyde A. Malott and John I. Malott, both of Lewistown; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Burdridge and and Lillie Coppenbarger, both of Easton.
She was a member of Jehovah’s Witness congregation in Lewistown.
Funeral services were held this morning at the Kost Memorial Home in Vermont. Burial was in the Vermont Cemetery.
