William Gobel

William H. Gobel, 77, of Higby, Ariz., formerly of rural Lewistown, died Wednesday, June 11, 1997.

He was born April 8, 1920, at Browning, a son of William and Effie Moss Gobel. He married Ruby Malott. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Janie Howard of Greenwood, Ind., and Carol Miller of Higby; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Virgil Gobel of Browning.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

He was a farmer and a coal miner at Peabody Mining Company and Midland Mining Company. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of the United Mine Workers Union.

Services were held Saturday at the Kingdom Hall in Mesa, Ariz.
