Richard LashbrookRichard Carl Lashbrook, 87, of Beardstown died at 12:06 a.m. Aug. 13, 2012, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.

He was born Feb. 8, 1925, a son of Earl and Flora Lear Lashbrook. He married Viola May Harn on July 12, 1944, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on Jan, 31, 2010.

He is survived by four children, Carolyn (and Butch) Donithan of Oklahoma, Gus Alvin (and Marsha) Lashbrook, and Mary Ellen (and Dale) Root both of Rushville, Richard Earl Lashbrook (and companion Steve Hayden) of Springfield; one brother, Fred Lashbrook of Rushville, and one sister, Maroy Claassen, of Rushville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter; four brothers, (twin brother) George, Robert, Clyde and Wayne Lashbrook; five sisters, Cora Hopkins, Grace Johnson, Pauline Fisher, Ruth Wheelhouse and Justine Sipes.

He was a World War II US Army Veteran serving in the Southern Pacific Theater.

He worked as a farmer, International Harvester mechanic, road construction and was a heavy equipment operator before retiring.

He was a long-time union member.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home with Mr. David Haney officiating. Inurnment will follow in Rushville City Cemetery with Military Services by a US Army Honor Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4.
