Cora Hopkins

Cora Beatrice “Bea” Hopkins, 80, of Rushville, died at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 2, 1917, in Brown County, a daughter of Earl and Flora Lear Lashbrook. She married Harold Henry Hopkins on July 4, 1935, in Virginia. He died Oct. 15, 1989. She also was preceded in death by three children, two brothers, and one sister.

Surviving are four sons, Harold Eddie Hopkins and Orson Dean Hopkins, both of Astoria, James A. Hopkins of Rushville, and Fred H. Hopkins of Menard; three brothers, Clyde Lashbrook and Carl Lashbrook, both of Beardstown, and Fred Lashbrook of Rushville; four sisters, Ruth Wheelhouse of Galva, Grace Johnson of Coal Valley and Justine Sipes and Maroy Claassen, both of Rushville; 12 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

She was a housekeeper at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

Services were held Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.
