Dean Kessler

Dean Kessler, 83, of Astoria died at 11:10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a son of Samuel and Minnie Etter Kessler. He married Mildred Wilson on Sept. 4, 1941, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Barbara (and Stanley) Gilbert of Peoria, Melba (and Robert) Baker of Astoria and Linda (and Franklin) Mikulich of Lewistown; one son, Kevin (and Tammy) of Canton; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nelda Bucher and Mae Bollinger; and six brothers, Clinton, Orvie, Russell, Marshall and two infants.

He was a farmer all his life. He also had worked at Ulmer Ford in Ipava and Lewistown.

He was a member of Woodland Church of the Brethren in Astoria.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at his church with Rev. Vernon Dean and Shane Baker officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his church or the American Cancer Society.
