Stanley J. Gilbert, 62, of Peoria died at 11:20 a.m. Sept. 20, 2007, at Morris Hospital in Morris.
He was born Jan. 7, 1945, in Pasadena, Calif., the son of Walter and Grayce Longenecker Gilbert. He married Barbara J. Kessler on June 18, 1972, in Astoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Stephen Gilbert of Peoria and Michael (and Sirina) Gilbert of San Francisco, Calif.; one daughter, Catherine Gilbert of Peoria; two sisters, Claire (and Dale) Ulrich of Bridgewater, Va., and Carolyn (and Donald) Fankhauser of LaVerne, Calif.; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and stepmother, Martha.
He worked for the Bureau of Affairs in Washington, D.C. for 20 years, then as an attorney for the Social Security Administration since 1990.
He was a member of First Church of the Brethren of Peoria, Peoria Astronomical Society and Peoria Civic Opera.
Services were held Monday at his church with Pastor Dana McNeil officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
