Marshall Kessler

Marshall W. Kessler, 87, of Rushville died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at his home.

He was born Oct. 13, 1914, in Astoria, a son of Samuel and Minnie Etter Kessler. He married Alberta E. Wilson on Oct. 20, 1940, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Gloria (and Gerald) Sorenson of Granite City and Lisa (and Kelly) Skinner of Elmwood; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dean (and Mildred) of Ipava.

Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

He farmed north of Astoria before moving to Rushville in the late 1960s, where he farmed until 1972. He also drove a school bus for Schuyler Community Unit School Dist. 1.

He was a Rockford Life Insurance agent for several years and independently sold various types of insurance.

He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville, where he was active in the Christian Men's Fellowship.

He also served as an R.S.V.P. volunteer for many years.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at his church with Revs. Kevin Kessler and Dr. E. Ambrose Stump officiating. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
