George Heller

George HellerGeorge W. Heller, 98, of Table Grove died at 9:10 a.m. Oct. 30, 2014, at his home.

He was born June 3, 1916, in Farmers Township, Fulton County, a son of James Newton and Ernestine Schmidt Heller. He married Dorothy Chambers on Dec. 8, 1937, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dorla (and Bill) Adamson of Peoria and Janet (and Lee) Cobb of Macomb; two sons, Donald (and Becky) Heller of Ipava and Rick (and Kathy) Heller of Canton; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen and Ronald Heller; four sisters, Amanda Anderson, Ellen Denner, Maxine Groff and Mary Helmridge; and four brothers, Newton, Russell, Eugene and Paul Heller.

He worked at Table Grove Elevator for 30 years. He also was a grain and livestock farmer. During World War II, he worked in the canteen and barracks at Camp Ellis.

He was an officer at Table Grove Savings and Loan for 27 years.

Services were held Monday, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Rob Harrison officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.
