Mrs. Grace Howard Of Canton Dies

Mrs. Grace Howard, 95, of Canton, formerly of Astoria, died at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 1988, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born June 10, 1893, in Woodland Township, a daughter of George Peter and Catherine Danner Waggoner. She married Don Howard on Aug. 10, 1910. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1937.

Mrs. Howard was a member of the Summum Christian Church. She and her husband operated the Summum Telephone Exchange for 20 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Pauline Howard of Canton and Wanda Lee Poppenhager of Lewistown; one son, Kenneth Howard of Lewistown; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Marshall “Pete” Howard, and 11 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. this morning at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Steve Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the Summum Cemetery.
