A. B. Hollinger Former Astoria Resident Dies

This community is saddened with the news of the death of A. B. Hollinger, who passed away at 2:00 o’clock, Christmas day at the home of his son, John Hollinger at Fairfield, Ill., after a two day illness of apoplexy.

Abraham B. Hollinger, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Balsbaugh Hollinger, was born in Dauphin county, Pa., July 7, 1849. He was united in marriage to Mary Berst, Dec. 11, 1869. She passed away Dec. 1, 1912. Three children were born to this union, all of whom survive. They are, Lizzie, wife of C. A. Gruber of Astoria, Ill.; Dave and John Hollinger, both of Fairfield, Ill. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday forenoon at 10:00 o’clock at the Martin Creek church near Fairfield, conducted by Rev. Blough, the pastor, and he was laid to rest beside his wife who passed away eighteen years ago.

The following relatives from this place attended the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Gruber, Abe Etter and daughter Myrtle, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Litchfield and son Maurice, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Wherley.
