MARGARET A. (JOHNSON) GREVE

Margaret Greve

Margaret GreveMargaret A. Greve, 93, of Washington, Ill., formerly of Peoria and Astoria, died at 12:58 a.m. Jan. 9, 2009, at Washington Christian Village in Washington.

She was born March 18, 1915, in Ipava, a daughter of Daniel J. and Sarah Jane Miller Johnson. She married Albert Carl Greve on Oct. 2, 1938, in Astoria. He died March 3, 1970.

She also was preceded in death by five sisters, Carrie Walters, Olive Shawgo, Edna Kavanaugh, Mabel Easley and Mildred Taylor; one brother, Roy Johnson; and one foster brother, Henry Block.

Surviving are one daughter, Karen (and Leon) Vickerman of Peoria; one grandson, Nathan (and Kimberley) Price of Washington; one granddaughter, Tanya Price of Peoria; and two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Isaac Price of Washington.

She worked for Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria and Ipava for six years, and a sales clerk at Carson Pirie Scott Company in Peoria for six years.

She graduated from Ipava High School.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Peoria for over 50 years and a member of American Baptist Women Ministry.

Services were held Tuesday at her church with Rev. Thomas Bayes Jr. officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
