M. Coita FairburnM. Coita Fairburn, 87, of Astoria died at 9:44 p.m. Nov. 11, 2014, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born Feb. 12, 1927, in Claude, Texas, a daughter of Jake and Mayme Buttler Groff. She married Delbert Fairburn on June 2, 1948, in Canton. He survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Deborah (and John) Lopes of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., Rebecca (and Marvin) Westlake of Mt. Carmel, Diane (and Gary) Westlake of Browning and Julie (and Bill) Troutman of Rushville; one son, Scott Fairburn of Astoria; one sister, Jo Ellen (and Carl) Gunter of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; three honorary daughters, Janet Kirby, Laurie (and Eric) Martin and Georgiana (and Alan) Clemens, all of Astoria; one honorary son, Ronnie (and Melinda) Parsano of Vermont; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nine honorary grandchildren; and 13 honorary great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Jay Dee Groff; and four sisters, Marjorie Foster, Marion Shaw and Della and Ella Groff.

She was a homemaker and worked as a waitress and cook at various restaurants.

She was a member of Astoria Christian Church and former member of Rebekah Lodge of Vermont.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Ted Shirley officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
