Frances France

Frances “Geraldine” France, 94, a resident of Elms Nursing Home in Macomb, formerly of Industry, died at 9:40 a.m. Dec. 10, 2010, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born July 15, 1916, in Adair, a daughter of Frank and Alys Lannery Hughes. She married Virgil A. France on Aug. 9, 1933, in Canton. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2001.

She also was preceded in death by four sisters, Norma Powell, Ruth Stremmel, Lois Edwards and Wilma Pittman; one brother, Franklin “Bud” Hughes; and one daughter in infancy.

Surviving are three sons, Bob (and Gladys) France of Industry, Phillip (and Judy) France of Leesburg, Fla., and Marlin (and Elaine) France of Macomb; two daughters, Sue (and Ron) Hay of Knoxville, Tenn., and Linda (and Allen) Robinson of Palmyra, Mo.; two sisters, Wynette Johnson of Canton and Betty Clagett of Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She lived most all her life in the Vermont and Industry area.

She had worked as a cook for Lincoln and Edison schools in Macomb and a cook for the Everly House for several years.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Macomb, and attended Assembly of God Church in Industry.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Rev. Jon Keck officiating. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour before services at the funeral home.
