Doris A. Derry, 84, of Astoria, died Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, at 1:48 a.m. at Mason District Hospital in Havana.
She was born Nov. 22, 1912, in Astoria, a daughter of Harley and Pearl Punneo Welker. She married Willis J. “Buck” Derry on April 9, 1931, in Mount Sterling. He died Aug. 26, 1985. Also preceding her in death were two sisters and five brothers.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Phil (Joan) Little of Marion, Mrs. Ray (Barbara) Hamm of Ipava, Carolyn Anderson of Fairfax, Va., Mrs. Gary (Marilee) Griffin of Springfield, and Mrs. Wayne (Donna) Layne of Peoria; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Loralee Head of Astoria.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Summum Christian Church and a member of the Sunshine Club of Astoria.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at her church with Tim Worstell officiating. Visitation will be this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial will be in the Summum Cemetery.
