Mrs. Pearl Welker Dies At Age 86

Mrs. Pearl Welker, 86, of Astoria, died at 7:35 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 1973, at the Astoria Care Center. She was a lifelong resident of the Astoria area.

Mrs. Welker was born on Nov. 14, 1887, in Woodland township, the daughter of Charles and Effie Stever Punneo. She married Harley Welker on Nov. 30, 1905. He is deceased.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Opal Wolfe of Peoria, Mrs. Evelyn Rahmeyer of Toulon, Mrs. Doris Derry and Mrs. Lora Lee Head, both of Astoria; two sons, Max and Gale, both of Astoria; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Three sons and one grandchild preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

ASTORIA—Mrs. Pearl Welker, 86, a lifelong Astoria resident, died at 7:35 a.m. yesterday in Astoria Care Center. 

She was born on Nov. 14, 1887, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Charles and Effie Stever Punneo. She married Harley Welker on Nov. 30, 1905. He died on Dec. 22, 1971.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Opal Wolfe of Peoria, Mrs. Evelyn Rahmeyer of Toulon, and Mrs. Doris Derry and Mrs. Loralee Head, both of Astoria, two sons, Max and Gale, both of Astoria; 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons and one grandchild. 

Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Shawgo Memorial Home, with Collis Trone officiating. 

Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be this afternoon and evening at the memorial home. 

She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
