OPAL A. (WELKER) WOLFE

Opal Wolfe

Opal A. Wolfe, 88, of Peoria, died at 10:38 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 1994, at Americana Healthcare Center.  

She was born July 21, 1906, in Astoria, a daughter of Harley and Pearl Punneo Welker. She married Charles G. “Johnnie” Wolfe on March 26, 1928, in Chicago. He died Sept. 6, 1972. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly, five brothers and one sister. 

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Walter (Jeanene) Kingsley of Los Angeles, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris Derry and Loralee Head, both of Astoria.

She was a member and past president of the Philharmonic Choral Club of Peoria. She will be remembered for her lyric soprano voice in many performances as a soloist. She was a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 42 in Peoria. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets officiating. Calling hours will be after noon Wednesday until the time of the services, at the memorial home. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.
