Daniel Dutton, 85, Dies Tuesday, Canton Hospital

Daniel S. Dutton, 85, died Tuesday evening at 8:15 in the Graham hospital, Canton, where he was taken on Saturday afternoon. He had been ill for three months.

He was born Sept. 14, 1870 in Woodland township, a son of Daniel and Mary Dutton. He was married to Viola Waggoner, who preceded him in death 37 years ago.

To this union were born three daughters and five sons, namely: Mrs. Katherine Bates, Beardstown; Mrs. Bonnie Cross, Pekin; Mrs. Fern Geiman, Vermont; Ralph Dutton of Alexis; Eldon Dutton, Alexis; Homer Dutton and Logan Dutton of Monmouth, and Lewis Dutton, of North Henderson.

He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Workman, Astoria, Mrs. Ella Rose, Bluff City, and a brother, William Dutton, Bluff City.

Mr. Dutton was a member of the Astoria Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Shawgo Memorial Home, conducted by Rev. Lee Carter Maynard. Burial in Woodland cemetery.

The family will be at the Shawgo Memorial Home Thursday evening to meet their many friends.
