Services Held Tuesday For Clara Etta Rose

Clara Etta Rose, 89, died Sunday morning at her home at 9:00 o'clock a.m. after several months illness.

Etta Rose was born in Kerton township on March 9, 1870, the daughter of Daniel and Mary Reed Dutton. On March 1, 1890 she was united in marriage to Stewart E. Rose, who preceded her in death in 1950. Mrs. Rose was a life-long resident of the Bluff City community, where she was well known and loved by all who knew her; she was always willing to do whatever was needed to help others. She reared in her home besides her own children, a niece Vernice Dutton Wheelock and also Agnes Gratehhouse Wheelock.

Surviving are the following children: Samuel P. Rose of Peoria; Bessie Jane Hamm of Browning, and Mary Ellen Ray of Astoria. A son Frank E. Rose preceded her in death. There are six grandchildren living and one deceased, and twelve great-grandchildren. One brother William Dutton and one sister Rebecca Workman of Astoria, also survive. One brother Dan Dutton and three half-brothers, Bubb Markley, Mart Markley and Marion Markley are deceased. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Horton Funeral Home Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. C. W. Leonard in charge. Burial in the Bluff City cemetery.
