Mrs. Mary Ellen Ray, 73, of Astoria was dead on arrival at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Culbertson Hospital in Rushville after suffering an apparent heart attack.
A lifetime resident of the Astoria area, Mrs. Ray was born Aug. 13, 1896, in Woodland Township, a daughter of Stewart and Etta Dutton Rose. She married Winter J. Ray on March 23, 1959. He survives.
She was a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church.
In addition to her widower she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Bessie Hamm of Browning. Preceding her in death were two brothers.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Fines Main officiating. Burial was in the Astoria cemetery.
