Mary Kathryn Bates, 99, of Beardstown died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Heritage Manor South.
She was born Feb. 9, 1906, in Astoria, a daughter of Daniel and Viola Waggoner Dutton. She married Warren Bates on Feb. 17, 1955, in Beardstown. He died Oct. 8, 1962.
She also was preceded in death by five brothers, Homer, Logan, Ralph, Eldon and Lewis; and one sister, Bonnie O'Shea.
Surviving is one sister, Fern Geiman of Astoria.
She was the resident housekeeper for the Floyd Condit family before being employed by Critic Mills. She later was a custodian at First National Bank in Beardstown for 17 years, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of Beardstown Emblem Club 474.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Beardstown.
Services were Friday at Sager Funeral Home with Rev. David Dutton officiating. Burial was in Beardstown City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to her church or the American Diabetes Association.
