VIRGINIA MAXINE (BUCHER) COX

Virginia Cox

Virginia Maxine Cox, 74, of Astoria died at 6:43 a.m. Sept. 29, 2007, at Astoria Gardens & Rehab Center.

She was born March 2, 1933, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Allen and Nelda Kessler Bucher. She married Ralph Cox on July 30, 1965, in Rushville. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Benjamin (and Carolyn) Cox of Astoria; one daughter, Nelda (and Harold) Worley of Beardstown; four sisters, Irene (and Willis) Shaw, Doris (and Lewis) Baker and Bernice Wright, all of Astoria and Nedra Bollinger of Browning; one brother, Dayle (and Patricia) Bucher of Bedford, Iowa; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Calvin Rick Worley; and five brothers and sisters.

She was a homemaker. She also worked as a CNA in Beardstown, Broadway Cafe in Astoria, home healthcare and housekeeping in the Astoria area.

She was a member of Astoria Christian Church.

Services were held Tuesday at her church with Gary Sheets officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to her church or Astoria Rescue Squad.
