Willis E. Shaw, 85, of Astoria died at 10:10 a.m. Sept. 10, 2012, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
He was born April 15, 1927, in Schuyler County, a son of Lester and Helen Lau Shaw. He married Irene Bucher on Nov. 3, 1957, in Browning. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Larry Shaw of Astoria; two daughters, Letha (and Joe) Stambaugh of Astoria and Lila Edwards of Rushville; one brother, Bud Shaw of Astoria; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeremiah Edwards; and two sisters, Harriett Schomer and Evelyn Hopping.
He was in the United States Army serving in the 5th Army from 1953-55 with a rank of SP 3 (T).
He was a farm hand for Bud Briney. He then worked for grocery stores in Astoria as a meat cutter most of his life.
He was a member of Astoria American Legion Post #25.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the memorial home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Astoria American Legion Post #25.
