Buddy Shaw

Buddy L. Shaw, 88, of Astoria died at 11:55 a.m. March 6, 2018, at his home.

He was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Astoria, a son of Lester and Helen Lau Shaw.

Surviving are three nieces, Beverly Lee of Canton, Letha (and Joe) Stambaugh of Astoria and Lila Edwards of Rushville; two nephews, Steven Surratt of East Peoria and Larry Shaw of Astoria; and one sister-in-law, Irene Shaw of Rushville.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Willis Shaw; and two sisters, Harriett Schomer and Evelyn Hopping.

He was a masonry tender and farm hand. He also worked at the Vermont Foundry, Astoria Fiber Steel and Alexander Lumber Company.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1951-53.

A graveside service was held Monday in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria with full military rites provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
