Paul BarrettPaul Edward Barrett, 75, of Astoria died at 3:40 a.m. Feb. 17, 2012, at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.

He was born May 4, 1936, in Canton, a son of John and Edith Coleman Barrett. He married Rosalie Wilson on Oct. 7, 1956, in Chandlerville. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, John Patrick Barrett of Florida and Michael Ray Barrett of Astoria; one daughter, Paula Taylor of Astoria; one sister, Betty Cassel of Indiana; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Margaret; and one brother, Bob.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a guest member of American Legion in Astoria.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lewistown.

He worked as a farmer in Fulton County and then for Amax Coal Company in Vermont for many years until retirement.

Services were held Tuesday at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
